Hello Mary, that is a huge gap but it's not impossible. The best way forward in my opinion is this, first check certification status to recertify, update your skill by enrolling in a refresher program, and apply for entry-level lab or phlebotomy positions to get back into the environment. Lastly, I would reach out to former colleagues, professional associations (ASCP, CLMA), or local hospital HR departments. Best of luck

Subject: Seeking honest opinions!
I have a question. In your opinion, would there be a chance for a part time, long term, flexible hours, job for a near retirement age MLT(ASCP) with experience(approximately 6 years)and a great work ethic, but hadn't worked in 25 years. I have a special needs son, which required me to take a LONG hiatus.I took a refresher phlebotomy course and graduated at the top of my class 5 years ago. Still no job. Im really interested in getting as many opinions as possible. What type of questions would you ask at an interview? Thank you for your time.Sincerely,
