The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has issued an Epidemiological Alert regarding a notable increase in chikungunya cases across the Americas in recent months, including locally acquired infections in regions that have not experienced circulation for several years.

This alert reinforces the critical role of robust surveillance systems - from timely case detection to coordinated, integrated vector management. Understanding the population dynamics of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus remains essential for accurate risk assessment and effective outbreak response.

Reducing vector density remains the primary disease prevention strategy, emphasizing the continued importance of comprehensive mosquito surveillance and control efforts. 🦟
