Hello everyone! My name is Jinehi Shah, and I'm excited to connect with fellow laboratory and molecular genetics professionals here.
I recently passed the MB(ASCP)CM exam and am currently based in Maryland. I have 7+ years of experience in genetics and molecular diagnostics, including approximately 4 years in Genome Diagnostics at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto.
My experience includes NGS, Sanger sequencing, MLPA, Fragile X testing, QC/QA, and clinical molecular genetics. I have also completed Applied Variant Interpretation through the University of British Columbia (UBC) and hold an MBA focused on Healthcare Management.
I recently moved to the U.S. after getting married and am currently waiting for my work authorization, which I expect within the next few months. I'd like to use this time productively to strengthen my skills and prepare for the next step in my career.
I would especially love to connect with professionals in molecular diagnostics, clinical genomics, NGS, variant interpretation, biotech, and laboratory leadership, particularly in the Maryland/DC area.
For those working in the U.S. laboratory/genomics field, I'd really value your perspective: Are there any courses, certifications, technical skills, software, or training you would recommend I focus on? I'd also appreciate insights into the skills employers are currently seeking and areas with strong future growth.
My goal is to build meaningful professional connections, learn from others in the field, and better understand the U.S. molecular diagnostics and genomics landscape.
