    Hello Susan,

One way you can look into this area can be through leveraging ChatGPT or other AI tools. LinkedIn has MLS and MLT job postings, which you can use as a sample. Prompt the AI with inquiry such as: "refine and redevelop my existing job description below to match current industry standard for Medical lab scientist in the LA Metro area. Use LinkedIn job postings as a resource." From the created product you can then pick and choose and modify parts to meet your current needs.

Based on a recent Community Digest post, please be assured that the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) continues to support and advance Medical Laboratory Technician and Medical Laboratory Scientist certification examinations, along with an additional twenty-six rigorous ASCP BOC examinations and credentials.  To clarify, ASCP BOC has not recently updated nor does the ASCP BOC have any plans to change certification guidelines to exclude MLT or MLS examinations or credentials.

The ASCP BOC ensures that all earned credentials signify the highest standards for laboratory professionalsHigh-value certification examinations and credentials for Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS) through the ASCP BOC are recognized as MLS(ASCP) or MLS(ASCPi)Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) are recognized as MLT(ASCP) or MLT(ASCPi), which aligns with our commitment to accurate nomenclature for enhanced professional recognition and visibility.

In addition to promoting unified professional nomenclature, the ASCP BOC Nomenclature Task Force developed resources for job description templates on behalf of Medical Laboratory Technicians and Medical Laboratory Scientists (see Medical Laboratory Job Titles and Descriptions for the 21st Century).

Our credentialing processes validate the vitality of laboratory professionals' career journeys, ensuring that credentialed laboratory professionals are well-equipped to contribute to positive patient outcomes and laboratory team excellence.

ASCP BOC credentials span the spectrum of laboratory medicine, pathology and beyond, reinforcing our commitment to patient-centric best practices and exceeding the evolving needs of the healthcare workforce.

For resources, updates, or official ASCP BOC credentialing details, please visit the ASCP BOC website at www.ascp.org/BOC or please reach out to our team at BOCfacebook@ascp.org.

The ASCP BOC's mission is to provide excellence in certification of laboratory professionals on behalf of patients worldwideWe also hope the above clarifications and templates help as you serve our patients, advance your career opportunities or refine your job descriptions.

    Sincerely,

    ASCP BOC Team
