    This discussion is very helpful and insightful. In developing countries quality is for a fact seen as a level of luxury and many labs just do the basics of just producing results.
    In my opinion, I feel the regulatory bodies have not done their job in these countries. When you first look at the University and the college syllabus for the Medical laboratory Science in the said countries, the aspect of quality is ignored.
    The laboratory licensing bodies in these countries have never looked upon ensuring that quality is achieved in the laboratories. The ISO certification of laboratories is just like an option for the management of the lab which of course should be made mandatory because it is achievable.

    I suggest::
    1. There is a need to look at the university syllabus for the medical laboratory and make it uniform.
    2. There is a need to liaise with laboratory regulating bodies that they be able to regulate these labs and ensure they achieve quality. In doing that they should be able to make known the capability of the laboratory and the importance of laboratory technologists so that the lab technologists may not seem to be downgraded among other cardres.
    Thank you very much.
