Dr. Jonathan David Williams
Dr. Williams graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor's degree in Biological Science. He continued his education and earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the same institution. He also holds a certificate in Principles and Practice of Clinical Research from the National Institutes of Health and is certified as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute.
Currently, Dr. Williams is the Director of Research and Development at Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings in San Diego, CA. Previously, he held various positions at LabCorp in Burlington, NC, including R&D Technical Director, Consumer Genetics Discipline Director. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, for three years and served as an Adjunct Professor at Durham Technical Community College in Durham, NC.
Dr. Williams has a provisional patent for "Methods and Systems for Detection of Monkeypox Virus" and holds patents for "Methods and Systems to Determine HLA-DPB1 Expression" and "Compositions, Methods, and Systems for Paternity Determination."
He has published multiple articles covering molecular principles in genetics, clinical testing, and microbiology.

Mike Korbe served as President, Director, and Chair of the Nominating Committee, providing leadership to the former Tidewater Chapter, which is now known as the ASCP Virginia Chapter. He was instrumental in the chapter's incorporation, the revision of its bylaws, and the development of its articles of incorporation. In recognition of Mike's dedication to the education and advancement of laboratory professions, the ASCP Virginia Chapter dedicates this lectureship to him.
