Happy Sunday family!
Well as a member of ASCP's council of laboratory professionals I would agree with Angela that folks may be misinformed as we put in a great effort to showcase the profession and put together webinars and events specific to lab professionals. Perhaps we can do more but in order for us to succeed in various markets we need folks like those who feel we are not doing enough to join these wonderful committees like CLP and offer ideas we could implement. We are happy to field ideas and put working ones into fruition. When I first joined ASCP CLP one of my first goals was to get them to help me get the government to recognize clinical laboratorians as a profession worth earning loan forgiveness. After only 2 years of working with ASCP, clinical laboratorians can now benefit from the public service loan forgiveness program. We have to be the change we want to see. My continued contributions have lead to the annual conferences having sessions catered specifically towards lab professionals and highlighted by color so they are easier to find in the menu. Look, from my perspective, ASCP is the bomb.com. The question is how do we better inform those who are lacking the knowledge of its greatness so they too could take advantage of ASCP's resources. I will link up with the CLP. I think a formal response like a press release highlighting all the good work we've done to include lab professionals in the body of ASCP may be helpful. Thank you Angela and Nathan for bringing this to light.
Sincerely,
Dr. Banks

Angela, you see this posted a lot. There are also similar quotes about ASCLS. Some of it comes with the nature of social media, there will always be complaints. But, when I see it, I try to point out the factual inaccuracy and also highlight the good that ASCP does. As an educator, who awards more scholarships than ASCP? I am not on the ASCP Board and can't speak for them, but I was previously on the Board for six years, serving with some wonderful Pathologists and Laboratory Professionals. I can say from my own personal experience the biggest supporters I have ever seen for Lab Professionals were the Pathologist Board Members. I also point out the CEO of ASCP is a Laboratory Professional, but to those that complain, those things don't seem to mean alot.

Is anyone from ASCP seeing these laboratory Facebook posts and responding?
This one on the very popular Lighthouse laboratory Facebook page which promotes medical laboratory science.
So many comments from colleagues negativelty commenting - that ASCP is only for pathologists - that ASCP fails to address issues to promote the medical laboratory professionals.
Obviously misinformed
- but who is available from ASCP board as a member of this page to set the record straight and post comments to enlighten them.
Our profession cannot afford to lose any members and needs to acquire stronger numbers in membership.
I assume not members- otherwise they would be receiving emails alerts etc.
Someone from ASCP board should reach out to these colleagues on social mefia platform snd represent the facts!
Hoping notifying helps.
