  • 1.  Alternative Job Positions Other Than Working in a Laboratory

    Posted 01-03-2024 01:31

Hello everyone! I have been working in Blood Bank for the past 3 years since I graduated and have my ASCP. I wanted to ask and see if anyone had any tips or advice for how to progress from this point since I want to find a position outside of the laboratory, but don't really know what type of positions to look for. I have tried looking, but figured I would ask here since I'm not sure what type of positions our knowledge makes us eligible for. I am trying to also shift into remote/work from home if possible. I appreciate any help in advance. Thank you!

    Hi Leila,

Outside of the medical laboratory are businesses that use laboratory scientists/technicians for research, public health, clinical trials, water treatment, Biotech, and manufacturing. If you are looking to get out of lab testing or handling samples altogether, you may want to consider IT, lab coding or continuing your education for something like genetic counseling.

    Good luck!
